Berea College’s 2019 Appalachian Symposium this week will include a focus on Native American culture and history.  Included in the program are authors Charles Frazier and Annette Clapsaddle who Tuesday afternoon will discuss Cherokee traditions, among other topics.

Eastern Kentucky award winning writer Silas House has released his 6th novel. House told WEKU’s Cheri Lawson there are at least three themes to “Southernmost” including the unbreakable bond between a parent and child, the complexity of rural people, and people of faith who have different ways of believing.

Kentucky writer and activist Silas House is teaming up with singer/songwriter Sam Gleaves for what they’re calling a “folk opera.”
