Lexington’s Senior Center continues to host large numbers of visitors at its Life Lane location. The center has extended its hours on two weekdays to accommodate additional classes.
Summer hours at the senior center are now extended until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The regular 8 a.m. til 5 p.m. hours are still in place for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The new facility off Richmond Road opened in mid-September.
Lexington Aging and Disability Services Director Krista Stambaugh says the new center averages 300 different people per day compared to about 120 at the previous Nicholasville Rd. center.
This week, the University of Kentucky approved its purchase of the old senior center property. UK officials plan to use the parking lot immediately, but haven’t determined any future use for the building.
