The men’s and women’s basketball teams at Eastern Kentucky University open their regular seasons Friday in Richmond. Both squads are hoping to build on last year’s successes.
The success of EKU’s women’s team last year came with a trip to the championship game in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. For the men last season, a ranking of 18th nationally in scoring offense and hitting the century mark three times created excitement.
Ninth year head coach Chrissy Roberts has a number of returners while second year coach Dan McHale is working with a lot of new players.
The ladies take on Bowling Green State Friday in McBrayer Arena at 5:30 while the men will come on the court for an 8:00 tip-off against Indiana University/Purdue Indianapolis.
