Roger Chesser

Roger is the host of Jazz Classics on WEKU.

Roger is mostly retired after many years in radio and tv broadcasting, starting in 1962.  He's lived in Kentucky most of his life, except for three years in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the Air Force.  He was a Top-40 dj for a time before switching to television.  He came to Lexington in 1975 to work for WLEX (TV), where, for a time, he was a reporter and weekend news anchor.  In 1983 he came back to radio at WUKY and was there for 22 years, including 15 as the station's General Manager.  He produces "Jazz Classics" at his home in Lexington.  He loves music; favorites include Bach, Brad Mehldau, Aaron Copland, Bill Evans, Shostakovich, Wynton Marsalis, Chopin and the Modern Jazz Quartet.
