The WEKU stations are once again proud media sponsors of the annual Keeneland Concours d'Elegance.  This year's Concours will take place Saturday July 21, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony at 3:00 p.m. 

Tune to 88.9 WEKU and our network of stations for our special Car Talk Marathon, including "live" updates from Keeneland from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

WEKU is asking for your help in evaluating a total of 3 new shows that NPR is making available to stations. Tune in for Ask Me Another at 2:00 pm and Cabinet of Wonders at 3:00 pm, then let us know what you think below and on our Facebook page.   We're also still glad to hear your comments about The TED Radio Hour, which will be returning to the air for at least a few more weeks later this summer.

RICHMOND, Ky. -- The news director of WEKU, the public radio service of Eastern Kentucky University, was recently elected as an at-large representative to the Board of Directors of Public Radio News Directors Inc. Charles Compton, who has served as news director at WEKU since 2005, was first elected last year to fill the unexpired term of the Board’s mid-sized newsroom representative. His term as an at-large representative is for two years.

At some times today, WEKU 88.9 FM will be off the air or operating at low power. This is a result of some necessary work at the transmission tower at Clay’s Ferry.

UPDATE:  WEKU 88.9 will likely be operating at reduced power or off the air at times on Saturday AFTERNOON.  Our Hazard, Corbin and Pineville transmitters will be unaffected.  This is a result of work that tower owner KET must have done on the transmission tower at Clay's Ferry.

As promised, we stopped our on-air fundraising when we reached, and actually exceeded, our $15,000 goal at 12:54 PM on Friday. The total came in at $16,920!
