State officials say the first of the year often brings with it an increase in requests for birth, marriage, divorce, and death certificates. The Office of Vital Statistics processes the requests.
Vital Statistics Registration Section Supervisor Jeff Sparks says it’s important to be aware of fraudulent websites. He says citizens should be wary of purchasing documents online and paying additional fees to a third party vendor not approved by the state. “They’ll ask for important information like your name, credit card information, band account, even phone number, addresses and these are information we don’t want other folks to get a hold of and to be aware of these types of issues,” said Sparks.
Kentuckians can securely obtain official documents by placing an order through the Office of Vital Statistics, through the online approved partner, Vitalchek, or stopping in the Frankfort office.
