NPR News recently announced that Audie Cornish would be the new host of Weekend Edition Sunday, taking over for long-time host Liane Hansen who is retiring the end of this month. Audie's move to this prominent role was covered by the press and media trades:

Two public broadcasting anchor chairs are getting new occupants. Audie Cornish, National Public Radio's Congressional correspondent, will be the new host of "Weekend Edition Sunday," NPR announced Thursday, while PBS's Jim Lehrer said he is stepping down from a regular anchor role on the "PBS NewsHour" effective June 6.

Audie Cornish, a reporter and substitute host for NPR since 2006, will replace Liane Hansen, who is retiring after hosting "Weekend Edition Sunday" for more than 20 years. (Her final show airs May 29.) Before coming to NPR, Cornish was a political reporter for WBUR, the public radio station in Boston.
