The Commonwealth
Highway Death Toll Drops in Kentucky
Kentucky saw a dramatic drop in the number of motorists killed over the Thanksgiving holiday. Preliminary numbers released by the Kentucky State Police say two people died in two separate crashes. Last year, nine people died during the four day weekend. The accidents took place in Fayette and Mercer Counties, and neither victim wore a seat belt.
So far, this year, 654 people have died in traffic accidents on the Commonwealth’s highways. That’s 52 fewer than the number of victims at the same time in 2010.
