Athletics Departments at Eastern Kentucky University and Jacksonville State are both apologizing for a weekend halftime incident during the football game in Alabama.

It involved EKU football players and JSU band members.

EKU Athletics Director Steve Lochmueller, on behalf of his department, football coach Mark Elder, and the team expressed apologies for the behavior of some Eastern players Saturday.

During halftime, as required by the NCAA and Ohio Valley Conference, the field was not cleared of band personnel in time for five minutes of team warmups.

Eastern Players entered the end zone before the end of the band performance.

Although the band’s performance ran long, Lochmueller said that did not justify the actions of some members of the team.

Jacksonville Athletics Director Greg Seitz apologized for taking too much time for on-field recognition of four JSU Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees, delaying the start of the marching band performance.
