Mike Savage

General Manager

Mike Savage is a public radio veteran with 25 years of broadcasting experience.  Mike has managed NPR stations in Illinois and Indiana and holds the distinction of being the only member of the NPR Board of Directors ever to be elected by station petition.

While on the NPR Board, Mike served on many committees including Membership, Governance and Strategic Planning.  He was also elected Vice Chair of the Distribution/Interconnect committee which governed the Public Radio Satellite System, the backbone of the public radio system.

Mike holds a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Masters in Mass Communication and has been honored with dozens of journalism awards by the Society for Professional Journalists and Associated Press.

WEKU General Manager Mike Savage announced this morning that the station is purchasing a new Transmitter at a cost of about $100,000.  The transmitter will replace older equipment that began failing two years ago at the Clays Ferry broadcast site.  The special announcement was made during the stations 'Power Hour' which kicked off the 50th anniversary Membership drive.
