A Lexington attorney who has represented former Governor Ernie Fletcher has filed a open meetings complaint against Murray State's Board of Regents. In a letter mailed to board chairman Dr. Constantine Curris Thursday, attorney Jim Deckard alleges the board held an illegal meeting during a social gathering at regent Sharon Green's home the night before voting against offering president Randy Dunn a new 4 year contract.

Coast Guard Hearing Scheduled

A Coast Guard hearing on the collapse of the Eggner's Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake begins April 16 in Paducah. The hearing will set the stage for a comprehensive Coast Guard report. The fact finding hearing will last up to seven days and include testimony from parties in interest, which will likely include the Commonwealth and Foss Maritime, which owns and operates the ship that collided with the bridge. The ship’s pilot is another likely witness.

Section of Western Kentucky Bridge Collapses

Investigators will spend the day at the scene of a partial bridge collapse in far western Kentucky. Two spans of U.S. 68/Kentucky 80 crossing over Kentucky Lake fell after being hit by a ship Thursday night. There have been no reported casualties and no indication vehicles fell into the lake. The U.S Coast Guard says the vessel did not contain hazardous cargo.

Facebook Sued for Misusing Client Data

A Kentucky man wants a judge to grant class action status to a federal lawsuit against Facebook. In the suit, Paducah-resident David Hoffman accuses the social media site of violating the Wiretap Act. It prohibits the installation of a cookie on a user’s computer which tracks browsing history even after logging off.

Flood Evacuees Return Home

Some of the western Kentucky residents who were forced to evacuate their homes due to severe flooding will be allowed to return soon. Governor Steve Beshear today authorized the move as the Ohio and Mississippi rivers recede. But while some residents will return to their homes, not all of them will stay. Lisa McManus left her McCracken County house and is going back only to retrieve what is salvageable.
