in Richmond-Lexington, WEKH 90.9FM in Hazard and WEKF 88.5FM in
Corbin, along with 96.9 in Barbourville and 95.1 in Pikeville.
Now in its third decade, WEKU is a public radio service of Eastern
Kentucky University and its Continuing Education and Outreach
division.
By extending the reach
of the University, WEKU's mission is to enhance the quality of
life in the Commonwealth by providing listeners with vibrant cultural
and intellectual programming, and by informing them about significant
issues facing society.
With studios in the Perkins Building on the campus of Eastern
Kentucky University, WEKU airs programs produced by our staff,
as well as nationally syndicated shows from National Public Radio,
Public Radio International and other producers. WEKU is the exclusive
broadcaster of Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra concerts. Our
news department has a long-tradition of covering issues affecting
central and southeastern Kentucky. The team has garnered recognition
from the Public Radio News Directors, Inc., Associated Press,
the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the American Psychiatric
Association for its in-depth reports on subjects including mental
illness, disability issues, child sexual abuse, special education,
and youth smoking.
Financial support for
WEKU programming comes from listeners, business and organizations
in our coverage area; from Eastern Kentucky University; and from
the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Please peruse the pages of our website to learn more about the
